Polynucleotide Injection S (Scar)

Polynucleotide Injection S (Scar) is similar to Polynucleotide Injection as it contains Polynucleotides (PN) that help to repair damaged cells and stimulate the production of collagen. Comparatively, Polynucleotide Injection S is thicker in consistency and is a more concentrated version of Polynucleotide Injection. This makes it specially suited for acne scars as it helps to ‘fill’ up the scars and more importantly, stimulate the production of collagen for continued improvement of the appearance of the acne scars over the next few weeks after treatment.

What is Polynucleotide Injection S (Scar)?

Individuals with sunken scars and uneven skin texture will find Polynucleotides Injection S particularly beneficial. This formulation has a higher viscosity, making it ideal for addressing the irregularities and depressions in the skin. Polynucleotides Injection S stimulates collagen production and facilitates tissue remodeling, effectively treating acne scars and creating a smoother skin surface.

What are different types of Polynucleotides?

In Singapore, there are three different types of Polynucleotides available. Each formulation is tailored to address specific skin issues and provide the best possible outcomes. All formulations of Polynucleotides feature highly purified polynucleotides sourced from salmon.

  • Polynucleotide Injection (Healer): Polynucleotides Injection is specifically formulated for damaged and aged skin as it promotes total skin healing and rejuvenation.
  • Polynucleotide Injection S (Scar): Polynucleotides Injection S promotes collagen production and tissue remodeling to treat acne scars and smooth out the skin.
  • Polynucleotide Injection I (Eye): Polynucleotides Injection I specifically targets crow’s feet, fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circles around the eyes.

Benefits of Polynucleotide Injection S (Scar)

  • Reduces Acne Scars: Effectively diminishes the appearance of acne scars for smoother skin.
  • Enhances Skin Texture: Improves overall skin texture by addressing uneven surfaces.
  • Stimulates Collagen Production: Promotes the production of collagen, aiding in skin regeneration.
  • Facilitates Tissue Remodeling: Supports the natural remodeling of skin tissue for improved elasticity.

Frequently Asked Questions

· How many sessions do I need?

3-5 treatment sessions are recommended, with an interval of 4 weeks between each treatment.

· What is the procedure like? Is it painful?

It is done similarly to Polynucleotide Injection.

First, numbing cream is applied for about 30-45minutes. After cleansing off the numbing cream, small amounts are injected into the scar areas. Thereafter, we will ‘massage’ the areas treated as they can be bumpy but will resolve within a week. There is a risk of bruising and needle marks – these will subside within a week.

· Is Polynucleotide Injection S done alone or in combination with other treatments?

Polynucleotide Injection S can be done on its own, but Dr Samantha highly recommends to do it in combination with other treatments such as fractional CO2 laser, subcision, microneedling radiofrequency(RF) and pico-resurfacing. A combination of treatments done at appropriate intervals yields the best results.

· Which of the above should I choose?

Dr Samantha will assess your skin, the type of scars you have, consider the amount of downtime you are agreeable for, and other factors before recommending you a suitable treatment course. Treatment of acne scars typically require regular treatment sessions and improvement will be seen over the course of a few months.
