What is GOURI and PCL?
GOURI is made of the world’s first liquid polymer filler, liquid polycaprolactone (PCL). Its liquid state makes GOURI injectable.
PCL can easily be broken down by the human body which brought its popularity as an implantable biomaterial.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of PCL in specific applications on the human body. Another PCL-based microsphere dermal filler called Ellansé, belongs to the collagen stimulator category.
PCL-based products stimulate collagen production and can reverse facial aging features including but not exclusive to volume loss and contour laxity, providing a long-lasting natural effect.
Since GOURI is also made of PCL, it has anti-aging properties and is also biodegradable. Due to its liquid form, GOURI easily spreads evenly throughout the entire face promoting natural skin collagen synthesis.

vs Dermal Fillers
GOURI enables natural skin collagen regeneration without the use of microparticles.
Dermal fillers cannot be injected evenly into the skin due to the nature and shape of its particles. Hence, the limited use on focal areas only.
GOURI addresses a more generalized effect while dermal fillers cater to more targeted and focused areas that have a specific volume defect.
vs Profhilo
GOURI and Profhilo, although both require only 10 injection points, are made from completely different substances.
GOURI is made with a fully solubilized liquid form of PCL, while Profhilo is made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA).
Profhilo focuses on helping with skin hydration and giving a gentle glow to the skin, while GOURI firms, lifts and anti-age by stimulating collagen.
GOURI Procedure
On each side of the patient’s face, GOURI is carefully injected into 5 specific points. Numbing cream will be applied before the procedure.
For the best results, 3 sessions are recommended at 4-week intervals.
After the 3 sessions, apply additional 1-2 treatments at 3-6 months interval, depending on patient’s condition.

Any risks and precautions I need to know before getting GOURI?
Potential risks and side effects in any invasive procedure and for this specific treatment include but are not limited to:
- Injection site pain
- Post-treatment discomfort
- Swelling
- Redness
- Itchiness
- Bruising
- Discoloration (may appear 7-10 days after the treatment)
- Post-treatment infection due to transcutaneous injection

- Lumpiness
Erythema, pain has been reported with bruising and heat sensation, usually within 24 hours post-injection. Treatment included corticosteroids, antihistamines and/or anti-inflammatories. Such events usually resolved within 7-10 days post-injection without sequelae and with no significant impact on daily life.
What are some post-treatment care tips I should know?
- Immediately after a GOURI session, redness, swelling and/or bruising may appear in the treatment area. To help GOURI distribute evenly, it is important at the end of the treatment session to manually massage in a circular fashion the treatment areas for a minimum of 1-2 minutes.
- It is recommended that the patient should massage the treated areas for 2 minutes, two times per day for two days after the injection session to promote even distribution of GOURI.
- To reduce the risk of edema and/or bruising after injection, an ice pack (avoid any direct contact of the ice with the skin) may be applied to the treated areas.
- Please refrain from going to the sauna, swimming, and alcohol consumption on the day of the procedure.
- When required, depending on event, additional treatments such as massage/manipulation, warm compress, corticosteroids, antibiotics, antihistamines, NSAID may apply.
